Artist Bio – BUK
BUK, born Bukunmi Peter Onasanya, is a Nigerian-born rapper, producer, and mixing engineer. He was born in Sagamu, Ogun State, and spent his childhood in Bodija, Ibadan. His journey into music began not with ambition, but with curiosity. A chance encounter with a neighbor’s boom box that could record sparked a lifelong fascination with sound. By secondary school, he was writing his own songs. A visit to a recording studio with his brother revealed a new world to him and BUK instinctively knew where he belonged.
While studying Computer Science at the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, BUK became a sought-after producer, known at the time as “Iceberg.” His self-developed talent for mixing, mastering, and sonic layering earned him early recognition. In 2015, he launched his own studio, Artstillbeats, in Ibadan, Nigeria. The studio quickly grew in reputation, hosting prominent Nigerian artists and attracting international collaborators drawn to BUK’s excellence, diligence, and attention to detail.
In 2022, BUK relocated to the UK, rebranding with a cleaner and globally accessible name. While continuing to collaborate across borders with talents like LC Beatz, Tobi Toun, and Lekan Salamii, BUK has shifted focus to building his personal artistry. He now creates music that is not only sonically rich but deeply uplifting and spiritually grounded.
